Ginger trades in two very different forms, and each has its own quality language. Fresh ginger is a cold-chain product judged on fibre and size; ginger powder is a dry-goods product judged on mesh and moisture. Buying well means specifying the right one.
Fresh ginger: low fibre, right size, cold chain
The premium attribute in fresh ginger is low fibre and plump, firm rhizomes. Size grades such as 150 g+ and 200 g+ set the calibre, and washing (or semi-washing) sets the appearance. Because fresh ginger is perishable, reefer handling and cold-chain stowage are what keep rhizomes firm and mould-free on arrival. Demand is steady across the Gulf, Europe and Bangladesh, with a peak roughly August to March.
Fresh ginger is forgiving in the field and unforgiving in the container. Cold chain is the whole game.
Ginger powder: mesh, moisture, ash
Dried ginger powder is milled from sorted, sun-dried ginger and graded by mesh fineness, with low moisture and ash to specification. Its warm, sharp aroma makes it a staple in spice blends, beverages and nutraceuticals. It ships in consumer packs or 25 kg bulk, with private-label and custom grind available.
Which one fits your order
If you need a fresh produce line for retail or food service, specify fresh ginger with a size grade and reefer transit. If you need a shelf-stable ingredient, specify powder by mesh and moisture. We supply both year-round and sample to spec before loading.
